Once again, Jasper, you are reporting and recording events as they happen, and I can only say that your bravery, commitment and sharp intelligence are an example to all of us, how we should try to lead our lives, notwithstanding being in a safe and non-war torn environment.
Bravo for taking the decision to go it alone. I wish you every success, and intend to take up your subscription offer as soon as I can.
Rest well, keep nourished, and be assured that we are thinking about you, your safety and the superb and necessary journalism that you perform.
Your stories are some of the saddest things I have ever read. My heart breaks every time. Thank you for staring into the abyss to report to those whose tax dollars is funding this twisted monster. Take care and god bless.
Truly living a nightmare. It's haunting to have the videos and images alongside what you write, thank you for going there and making some of the horrors visible to us.
Thanks for sharing this nightmare. As hard as it is to read, we have to know. I hope we can stop it soon. Settler-colonialism is so ugly and brutal, and I wish you and your community safety and strength while this is going on.
A heartbreaking but necessary read. Jasper, your skill at painting the fuller picture of Palestinian life, their struggle through generations of settler violence, and immeasurable loss, is the perfect lens for these times. May more people find the inspiration and courage needed to break the chain of empire that maintains this.
There’s such an interesting foil between Palestinians in the West Bank trying to shield their children from the trauma and violence that the settlers are sending their children to partake in.
It's a very vicious circle: impunity reinforces the feeling of supremacy, and the violence and injustice continues and escalates. 2!n!sm truly is a growing cancer.
May Peace, Justice and Freedom return to Palestine and the Palestinian people.
The sadistic engineers of this Endarkenment will suffer greatly when they discover that that were chosen by Divine Consciousness to experience the perpetual torment of their souls for all that they have done to the Palestinian people, and to the horrifying example they have established for their own children. They are programming generations of hate. The damage is so severe. That they willingly do this to their own children is horrifying.
This is the same area featured in the Oscar’s winning documentary “No Other Land”.
The young father and beloved community member, Awdah Hathaleen, (featured in your piece) was shot and killed by a well-known Israeli settler during an aggressive demolition act like the ones you’ve detailed here. Awdah was a collaborator on the film.
The internet is forever, thanks for getting it out. But fuck, there's just no justice.
Also, it's not lost that you are an important example of the many good ones (yeah, that's arguably fucking bigoted to say, but I think anyone would know what I mean, at some point I'll have this sentiment properly refined). It makes me sick to hear people smear a whole ethnicity/culture/religion when there are so many noble people like you.
Carmel was founded in 1781 as part of the Spanish system of displacement, forced labor and internment of the indigenous Californians such as the Ohlone and the Tongva.
Oh wait you’re talking about a *different* Carmel… that was founded as part of a system of displacement, forced labor and internment.
(The only difference, really, is that Israeli Carmel dispenses with the pretense of religious conversion, not that conversion to Catholicism saved the Ohlone from the California Genocide, either.)
(Also yes I know that both Carmels are named after Edie Falco’s character in the Sopranos, Carmela Soprano.)

Thanks for documenting all this and for the bit of levity with the "sugar high" paragraph.

Their EVILNESS has no limits! Genocidal psychopaths of the world have no place in the civilised world or any world.

From the Tensift River to the Aral Sea shall only be Israeli sovereignty! 🙄
(Okay so past a certain point you get to the Jewish Autonomous Oblast, and we’re fine with Zionists claiming that one bit of land.)
Wow, Israeli settlers sound exactly like Americans!
