Feel free to delete this but I take so much issue with people who “became Jewish” after Oct 7th. It tells to me, they only see their identity with Judaism when they get to be thee victim and use their victimhood. It’s a shallow reading of Judaism and so irritating.
Excellent response to the "We stand with Israel" hysteria following 7 Oct, which in fact kicked off all-out "settler" violence, and gave huge impetus to the Ben Gvir/Smotrich annexation push.
This is the totality of today's Israel, to which we are exhorted to "stand with".
I think you’ve touched on something important here, but it’s actually worse than just a gross reduction of Judaism to victimization. For them, the desire for association with victimhood does not come from some identification with or empathy for any actual suffering that Jews have faced, but rather the belief that such a status will excuse and justify their own violent, hateful, and oppressive behavior. It’s an opportunity to say and do the repulsive things they’ve wanted to while hiding behind the victim status. I’m not just going to bully and hurt you, I’m going to make you apologize to me after I do it.
Scott Galloway is top of the list. What he knows about the history of the Middle East, particularly the treatment of Gazans, Netanyahu's role in destabilizing 2-state solution negotiations for decades, and Netanyahu's disastrous strategy of funding Hamas to maintain a division between the PLO and Hamas...could fit into a thimble.
Thank you once again, for some more truth and depth.
The word that comes to mind is 'opportunism'. Is seems that lot of the 2!n!st entity's policies and politics is built on opportunism. The settler terror is a good example: one may condemn the violence, but the opportunity is there, and that unconditional support for the IDF comes in handy too, when they are eventually facilitating that violence and the 2!n!st territory is once again growing. But also, the war on Iran is a major distraction to the public's eye, so there is that great opportunity to legalize all those settlements.
Meanwhile, do I see any proof that opportunities are being used, or created, to the betterment of ALL the people in occupied Palestine..? No, I can't see those. It's an opportunism that is such part and parcel of the whole state, starting with it's violent foundation, that I don't see how they could rid themselves of that mindset any time soon.
Looking at the very beginning, there was indeed that resolution by the infant UN, but it included the clause that the resident population should be respected and basically left alone. And now the narrative is still that, the entity was created on the basis of that resolution, and there is not much reference to the fact that the resolution was not respected, concerning the 'arabs' who lived there already. But the UN is of course also just a platform for the entity, an opportunity to play the victim card.
So is it an unfortunate accident, that Netanyahu is the most frequently elected president of the terror entity? Not really. My guess is that he charms the nation with his exceptional marketing skills. In the end, selling a narrative is part and parcel of opportunism. We all saw how the very secular Bibi only had to invoke Amalek once, to rouse the IDF into a killing frenzy. And we all saw how he spun the whole October 7 attack, in spite of the complicity that is being uncovered: the dismissal of the observations before the day, the early morning stand-down order, the late arrival of the IDF and their killing spree, etc. etc. It was all a great opportunity to kill and injure as many 'arabs' as possible, and to flatten Gaza.
And now the war with Iran is another great opportunity, to grab more of the West Bank, which creates the opportunity for Israeli to flee into that area which Iran is not bombing (yet); the opportunity to expand in any and all directions, now that the war gives them a carte blanche of sorts, to invade their neighboring countries, so that they can realize that Greater Israel nightmare. Opportunism and propaganda go hand in hand.
May Peace, Justice and Freedom return to Palestine and the Palestinian people!
I always thought Jewish descent was determined by the mother, but Reingold's mother is not Jewish. Have I been mistaken all this time? Or am I being gaslit?
From my understanding anyone can convert, but the ethnic line passes through the mother. All Israeli Zionist genocide aside, it is a smart move on the part of Judaism (not Zionism) as a whole. I knew someone who would always say "The child of my daughter is my grandkid, the child of my son could be anyone's grandkid." Personally, I think we all need to take care of everyone's kids in this big human family but I get where they were coming from in a capitalists sense, even if I think it's cringe.
Reconstructionist Jews believe that if your father is the Jewish one, you are also Jewish and don't need to convert. However, my cousin, who chose a reform Liberal Zeye-synagogue, had a protestant mom and decided to choose Judaism as her faith and had to convert. Unfortunately, as a Liberal Zio, her opinions are still disgusting and she denies much about the problems with Israel. Frankly, I consider that matriLINEAL stuff to be misogynist and racist. Much better to have matriarchy.

I laughed out loud reading the fun the internet had with your comments.
Me too!
LMAO Hasan looks like security everywhere he goes. We all know he probably a softie irl. I seen how he puts that giant puppy on his lap every week.
I thought his face was extraordinarily kind, when asked directly about the ethnic cleansing of Palestine. And I applaud him for his response.
It seems nothing can stop the settlers on the peripheries, so what is Israel's plan for resistant Palestinians in the main towns? Slavery?
